Chinese New Year 2013

It will be the start of the Year of the Snake in another one week's time.  Many of us had started shopping for new year goodies, clothes and gifts.

We went to Compass Point last Wednesday and found that the decorations were very nice.  So I snapped a few pictures of it.  Here's one of the pictures.

Sera had been looking forward to visiting Chinatown, so we went on last Friday to let the kids have a feel of what it is like in Chinatown during this time of the year.  We had dinner at Macdonald in Chinatown Point.

It seemed that Chinatown Point was newly renovated and now had shops such as Hockhua Tonic, Daiso, NTUC, 3 for $10 shop etc.  Sera was happy to buy a Snake soft toy decoration at the 3 for $10 shop.  By the way, the snake soft toy costs $2 even though the shop is named 3 for $10 shop.

We were anxious to go out to the street to view the street decorations so did not shop there for long.  Here are the pictures that we had taken.  Enjoy!

Christmas Lightings/decorations at Orchard Road 2012

Finally had the time to go to Orchard Road yesterday.

The weather was quite good, did not rain for the whole day.  The kids bought some toys from OG at Orchard Point and then we had our dinner at The Centrepoint.  After dinner, we took some photos and videos outside The Centrepoint .

After that, we crossed over to Orchard Central and took some pictures of the Christmas decorations outside the building.

As we walked into Orchard Central, we were happy to find many nice Christmas decorations that were good for phototaking.

This last photo was taken at the OC photo booth.  We chose the scenery that we wanted, posed for the camera and keyed in our email address for the system to send the photo to us.

Visit to the Science Centre Singapore

It's been donkey years since I last visited the Science Centre Singapore .  The one and only time that I have visited the Science Centre Singapore was when I was in primary school.  The trip was organized by the school.

So, this school holiday, we decided to bring the kids there since Lynn had grown to like Science a lot and had a lot of questions.

We started late so by the time we bought the tickets to go in, it was already about 4 pm.  We rented a buggy for Sera.

Sera and Lynn
Sera enjoyed sitting in the buggy.  However, most of the time, she was the one pushing the buggy around (with nothing on the buggy).

With only 2 hours to go about the Science Centre, we went to the sound exhibition hall first.  Both Lynn and Sera enjoyed playing around with the sound equipments.

Another hall we went to that was of interest to Lynn was the Robotics hall.  As a Lego fan, Lynn was extremely excited when she saw the Lego Mindstorms rock star and Lego vehicles there.

In the meantime, Sera was having fun posing here.

We left the Science Centre exactly at 6 pm, which was the closing time.

Sentosa Trip

I was scanning some photos recently and came across some photos of Sentosa that were taken years ago. It dawned on me that it's been a long long time since I last visited Sentosa.  So, we decided to go to Sentosa  last week.

With 2 kids with us, we decided that we should just drive into Sentosa ($6 per entry from 2 pm to 5 pm on weekdays) and park at the Beach car park.

Upon arrival, we took the Sentosa Express (which is free when travelling within Sentosa) at Beach station and reached Imbiah Station.

After lunch at the KFC restaurant, we started our tour around Imbiah Lookout.

My younger daughter, Sera with the young merlion.

Isn't that young merlion cute?  There were a few young merlions around and Sera posed with most of them.

After taking the Sentosa express back to Beach station, we took a tram ride around Siloso Beach.  My kids enjoyed the rides so much that they didn't even asked my hubby for his Iphone (to play games).  Amazing!

We left Sentosa around 7 pm and we were all tired.  We didn't even go into Universal Studio.  Maybe next time...

Below are photos of some attractions in Sentosa that no longer exist.
