Europace Multi-point Instant Water Heater EWH138

Our old storage water heater had been leaking for quite some time. We decided to get a new water heater to replace it since it was already 11 years old. So I began my search for a new water heater. I found out from the internet that multi-point instant water heaters are now available in Singapore.

Eleven years ago, we installed a storage water heater because we wanted hot water for both the shower point and the tap at the washing basin. At that time, our contractor informed us that an instant water heater could only connect to one point. However, due to advances in technology, we found that now there are multi-point instant water heaters available. After some shopping, we bought a Europace multi-point water heater EWH138The Europace multi-point water heater used our existing pipes so no replacement of pipes were required.

Initially, we set the temperature to medium. We normally bathe in the  bathroom adjoining the master bedroom. The heater was installed at the other bathroom in the kitchen. Thus the water had to travel some distance after it was heated. That meant that it was only warm enough for normal daily use but was not hot enough for showers on days when the weather was cooler.

We then decided to set the temperature to high. Since then, the water was hot enough even on days when the weather was cooler.

The advantages of this Europace multi-point instant water heater over storage water heaters are:

1)  We no longer have to switch on the water heater for 10 to 15 mins before taking a showers even on cooler days. This is great for us since we (the whole family) take turns to shower. For the storage water heater, we had to wait another 10 mins before the next person could take a shower on cold days, or else the water would not be hot enough.

2) The Europace water heater is much more compact.

3) As the new water heater is also an instant water heater, it is supposed to consume less electricity. As we have just installed it, we would need to observe further before we can conclude that it really consumes less electricity.

It has been 2 weeks since the new Europace water heater was installed. So far, so good. Hope it lasts.

    1. Hi Peter,

So far the heater is working fine. Electricity bill had gone down. It could also be due to the fact that we do not need to switch it on for 10 to 15 mins before using it as compared to the storage water heater.

Perhaps you can let me know what else you would like to know?

  3. Hi Anne,
The heater looks nice, slim and easy. May I know is that a normal water heater? I'm not sure if a normal water heater can distribute to 2 bathrooms. Can you share more? Thank you

    1. Hi Rizal, This Europace Multi-point Instant Water Heater is not a storage water heater. It is an instant water heater, this mean that water is heated instantly without the use of a storage tank. So, this is a normal heater if that is what you meant by a normal water heater.

If you want the normal water heater to distribute to 2 bathrooms, you have to make sure it is Multi-Point. You have to look at the specifications on the Water Heater in the showroom or the Water Heater box to be sure because it seemed that some sale staff did not know about the existence of the multi-point water heater. It's just not very common in Singapore (at the time when we purchased this).

The 2 bathrooms using the Multi-Point water heater cannot be too far. For our 2 bathrooms, it has one connecting wall. If you already have existing piping in place for storage water heater, then it should not be a problem to switch to this Multi-Point instant water heater. Maybe you can check with a plumber on that.

  5. i got this heater last year too but it is not functioning well now.
Called them for repair since it is still under warranty and i took one day leave just for waiting at home for the technician to come.
What piss me off is that that technician push the blame to water pressure therefore can not heat up, I believe him at the beginning so take his advice called the town coucil people to help me clear the clog. Unfortunetly not due to that problem, I have no choice to call them again and feedback to them, their answer is "can you take another day leave for us to go down again?" I was like what the hell, i need to waste another day leave just to compesate their mistakes..

  6. Hi, did you switch the heater temperature to maximum? Recently, the weather is a bit cold at times, so the water will not be hot enough if the temperature is not set to maximum. I recently learnt from a plumber that we can actually adjust water pressure ourselves by adjusting the meter outside our flats. Not sure about your house though...

  7. Hi there! I also have an Europace multipoint heater. I have a question though. Do you leave the electricity switch switched on, or switch it on only when you are about to take a shower?

  8. Hi, we only switch on the heater when we are about to take a shower.

  9. Hi Anne, I'm so happy that I found our blog as I'm looking for water heater solution to replace my existing storage tank heater as my wife is complaining need to wait to heat up then bath and pub bill going up ect..

I like to find out from you if the
    1. Multi-point heater able to serve hot water if we were to bath in the two bathroom at the same time
    2. Did you see a drop in water pressure when you bath in a single and two bathroom compare to storage heater?
    3. You mention the unit cannot be too far from the bathroom, so not sure if my house layout is suitable?

    1. Hi Gab,

      1. The temperature will definitely be affected when two persons are to bathe in two bathroom at the same time. As to whether it will be hot enough for both, we are not sure because we had never tried that out.

      2. We don't see any significant difference in water pressure when we bathe in a single bathroom compared to the storage water heater that we used to have. Water pressure will definitely drop when two persons are bathing in two bathroom, same as when we had storage water heater. You can ask the plumber to help you adjust or check the water pressure after installation.

      3. From what I see, your two bathrooms had a connecting wall, so should have no problems to use the multi-point water heater.

      Hope that helps.

    2. Hi Anne, I am thinking now whether to change to this new multi-point water heater. I have some questions about this. If this is installed in one of the common toilet and is set to high and one of us is using another toilet who decides not to bath hot water half way through, he will not be able to adjust the temperature in this toilet right since the settings is done in the common toilet. Please advise urgently if you can. Thanks

    3. Hi Anne, would you be able to advise whether we can adjust the temperature in another toilet if the water heater in installed in the common toilet. Thanks

    4. Hi,
The temperature setting on the water heater itself determines the maximum temperature that it can go. To change to cold water when bathing in another toilet, you would need to switch the tap to the cold setting. In our case, we just turn the tap to the right side for cold water.

  12. Hi TSR,

Sad to say that it started leaking water on Thursday night. Otherwise, there were no repairs done so far. As this is not covered under warranty now, We will be changing the water heater soon.

    1. Hmm, that's roughly abt 4.5yrs of usage. Seems like a slightly below average lifetime. Do you intend to continue using multi-point or gonna switch back to electric storage?

    2. We just installed two new instant water heaters. I will write a review on the new water heaters on my other blog http://www.anneproductreviews.blogspot.sg/ in the next few days. We figured that the cost of replacement for instant water heaters is cheaper in the long run since we will never know how long the water heater will last.
